Patrick N. Smith joined Ramsey & Murray
in July 2001 and became a Partner in 2008. His practice includes the
following:

Defending individuals, commercial and household
product manufacturers, retailers and a variety of corporations
against personal injury claims including wrongful death; maiming and
disfigurement resulting from refinery and industrial accidents;
work-related or on-the-job injuries; slip/trip-and-falls; automobile
and pedestrian accidents; and household, commercial and industrial
products.

Defending general contractors and subcontractors for
suits alleging faulty workmanship, negligence, breach of contract,
breach of warranties, misrepresentation, nuisance, tort liability,
deceptive trade practices, contribution and indemnity in projects
ranging from municipal and county projects, excavation, road
construction, underground utilities, construction of hospitals and
business facilities and both home and commercial construction.

Representing several insurance companies regarding
complex and novel coverage issues under homeowners, commercial,
auto, excess and umbrella, and worker's compensation policies; and defending
insurers in first party claims, Owner-Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP)
Policies, and property, casualty, and subrogation claims.

Participating in the first Multi-District Litigation
(MDL) Court hearing held in Texas and continuing to represent
companies involved in asbestos and phenylpropanolamine (PPA)
litigation. Mr. Smith serves as Texas state counsel for one of
the largest automotive retailers in the nation, in addition to
representing other retailers and contractor defendants. Prior
to the implementation of the MDL court, Mr. Smith chaired several
joint defense counsel conferences and served as defense liaison for
friction products retailers in negotiating master form discovery for
Brazoria County.

Defending employers against Title VII claims of
discriminatory hiring and work practices, retaliation, and harassment, as
well as claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Age
Discrimination in Employment Act claims.

Defending and consulting corporations regarding
contract issues, license agreements, principal-agent relationships,
warranty issues, defamation suits, consumer claims and violations of
Texas Finance Code. Mr. Smith has also prosecuted the claims on
behalf of consumers.

Defending and consulting a wide variety of
corporations and small businesses such as condominium associations,
car dealerships, manufacturers in the petrochemical industry,
grocery retailers, and retail sellers in matters regarding contracts,
license agreements, principal-agent relationships, warranty issues,
false imprisonment, defamation suits, landlord/tenant disputes,
violations of the Texas Property Code, state and federal Fair
Housing Act, breach of warranty of habitability, breach of express
and implied warranties, and breach of duty of good faith and fair
dealings.
